UConn Takes on Indiana in NCAA Sweet 16 Saturday

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The second-seeded and fifth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (27-5) takes on third-seeded and 11th-ranked Indiana (24-8) in the NCAA Sweet 16 on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Total Mortgage Arena. The game will air on ESPN, the UConn Sports Network and Westwood One.
UConn gutted out a 52-47 win over UCF in the NCAA Second Round on Monday. Freshman Azzi Fudd led UConn with 16 points while senior Christyn Williams added 12. The Huskies shot 26.3 percent from the field, UConn's lowest field-goal percentage in an NCAA Tournament game. UConn held UCF to single-digit points in the second and third quarters.
With a win over UCF, the Huskies advanced to their 28th straight Sweet 16, an NCAA record. The Huskies are 26-2 (.933) all-time in the Sweet 16. This is UConn's 33rd overall and straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
This is the first-ever meeting between the Huskies and Hoosiers. UConn graduate student Dorka Juhász played her first three seasons at Ohio State and helped the Buckeyes to a 3-1Â record vs. the Hoosiers in her time on the team.
Indiana beat Princeton, 56-55, in the Second Round. Grace Berger led the Hoosiers with 15 points in the win. Five Hoosiers are averaging double-digit points this season, led by 16.3 per game from Berger. Mackenzie Holmes ranks seventh nationally in field-goal percentage (60.4). Head coach Teri Moren is in her eighth season at Indiana.
