UConn, NC State to Face Off for Final Four Spot

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The No. 2-seeded and No. 5-ranked UConn women's basketball team  (28-5) faces No. 1-seed and third-ranked NC State (32-3) in the NCAA Elite Eight Monday at 7 p.m. The game will air on ESPN, the UConn Sports Network and Westwood One.
UConn beat third-seeded Indiana, 75-58, in the Sweet 16 on Saturday. Senior Christyn Williams and sophomore Paige Bueckers each scored 15 points vs. the Hoosiers. UConn outrebounded Indiana 39-27. Senior Olivia Nelson-Ododa (14) and sophomore Aaliyah Edwards (10) led the Huskies on the boards. Leading by four at halftime, the Huskies broke out for a 16-0 run to open the third quarter.
This is UConn's 33rd overall and straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. UConn is 128-21 (.859) all-time in the NCAA Tournament, which is the winningest record in the sport.
The Huskies are 21-5 (.808) all-time in the Elite Eight. UConn has won 13 straight Elite Eight games.
UConn is 6-2 all-time vs. NC State. This is the first meeting between the teams with Wes Moore as head coach for the Wolfpack. UConn and NC State have faced off in the NCAA Tournament four previous times, all in the Regional Rounds. The Huskies are 3-1 all-time vs. the Wolfpack in the NCAA Tournament.
NC State advanced to the Elite Eight with a 66-63 win over Notre Dame on Saturday. Raina Perez scored the game winner on a steal-and-score with 14 seconds remaining in the game. Elissa Cunane leads NC State with 13.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. NC State ranks fifth nationally in field-goal percentage (46.8) and third in scoring margin (+20.0). The Wolfpack won the regular season and tournament ACC titles. Head coach Wes Moore is in his ninth season at NC State.
