Shamonkin Dam, Pa, - Led by first-place finishes by the 3V8, the UConn women's rowing team competed for the final time this month against Bucknell and Villanova Saturday afternoon at Shamokin Dam.
"Any time one of our boats wins is a celebration for the whole team," remarked head coach Jennifer Sanford. "Congrats to the third varsity eight, who defeated Villanova in the first race, and Bucknell in the second race."
The 3V8 ticked in ahead of the Wildcats (7:36.33) to close out the opening round of racing, and followed by defeating Bucknell by over 11 seconds (7:30.85) to close out the day's action.
The V4 also recorded an outstanding effort in the first round of races, clocking in over 15 seconds (8:04.14) ahead of Villanova.
"The Varsity 4 also had a solid performance in the morning, defeating Villanova," said Sanford. "The first and second varsity eights were both within striking distance of Villanova so I'm excited to see them again at our conference championship in a month.
UConn will next compete on Sunday, May 1 at Sacred Heart.
