WHOC Announces 2021-22 Team Awards

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team have announced their team awards for the 2021-2022 season. The honorees, who were voted on by team members, were recognized for their respective performances during a historic 2021-2022 season.
2021-22 Team Awards
MVP – Morgan Wabick
Morgan Wabick led the Huskies with 34 points and was tied for the team lead with 13 goals during her graduate season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native was a key part of the UConn attack that had a record-breaking season. In addition to leading the team in points and goals Wabick surpassed 100 career points and finished her UConn career with 109 total.
Pat Babcock Award - Danielle Fox
Danielle Fox was a consistent contributor to the Huskies not only this season but the past four seasons. Playing in 132 total games for the Huskies including all 37 games this season as an assistant captain. As a senior the Unionville, Ontario native was a key member for the Huskies which included being a key contributor on the power play. As a senior Fox finished with 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points which was highlighted by her first career hat trick vs. New Hampshire on February 5.
Unsung Hero- Danika Pasqua
Danika Pasqua was a do it all member of the Huskies team, playing in 122 total games including all 37 games as a senior. As a senior, the Langley, British Columbia native finished with three goals and three assists for six points. In addition to contributing on the offensive end of the ice, Danika would make her presence felt on the defensive end blocking a total of 30 shots. Danika Pasqua would finish her UConn career posting 21 goals and eight assists.
Most Improved – Kaitlyn Yearwood
In her junior season, Kaitlyn Yearwood became a key member of the Huskies defense that helped carry them to the Hockey East championship game. The Thornhill, Ontario native finished her junior season with four assists for four points, while also blocking 32 total shots in 36 total games played.
Rookie of the Year – Megan Warrener
Megan Warrener burst onto the scene in the 2021-22 season earning Pro Ambitions Hockey East All-Rookie Team Honors after posting a 12-3-1 overall record. In addition, Warrener was a key factor for the Huskies helping lead them to their third Hockey East championship game in the last five year. The Stoney Creek, Ontario native was apart of a goaltending unit that broke the UConn program record for most shutouts in a season with nine, five of them coming from Warrener. Warrener's accolades did not stop there, as she also set the program record for save percentage in a single season with a .944 save percentage.
