STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's track & field team will send athletes to the Navy Invitational at Ingram Field in Annapolis and at the Virginia Challenge at the University of Virginia this weekend
The majority of the Huskies competing this weekend will head to Navy where UConn will compete with the host Midshipmen and George Mason. A smaller contingent of UConn athletes will head to UVA to compete at the largest track and field meet on the East Coast this weekend with over 1,700 athletes entered in the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan FIeld.
The Huskies posted their second win of the outdoor season this past weekend at the UConn Northeast Challenge where they finished atop a field of 19 teams. UConn moved up a spot to No. 2 in the USTFCCCA Northeast Regional Rankings this week.
UConn continues to lock down the BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week Award as junior Emma Chee (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) took home this week's honor.  Chee earned her second win of the outdoor season in the pole vault and did so with a school record to earn Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors. Chee broke her own school mark at the UConn Northeast Challenge by clearing the bar at 4.22 meters. She leads the BIG EAST and is up to 18th in the NCAA rankings. She will compete at Navy this weekend.
Junior Patricia Mroczkowski (Berlin, Conn.) was off last weekend but will return to action this week at Navy. She continues to lead the BIG EAST rankings and is ranked 10th nationally with her height of 1.83 meters.
On the track, senior Mia Nahom (New Milford, Conn.) is scheduled to run the 5,000 meters with junior Randi Burr (Westerly, RI) and freshman Chloe Thomas (Dundas, Ontario) at Virginia this weekend. Â
Following this weekend's competition, the Huskies will take part in the Penn Relays in their final tune-up before the BIG EAST Championship in May.
