Softball takes game one from Seton Hall getting win #30 on the season

South Orange, NJ – UConn secures their 30th win of the season beating Seton Hall 6-1 in the series opener.
Elise Sokolsky started in the circle for the Huskies. She went five strong innings only giving up one hit and struck out eight.
The Huskies got on the board in the third inning. Aziah James tripled and later came around to score on some heads up baserunning to give UConn the 1-0 lead.
The Pirates would tie the game at one in the fourth inning. The Huskies responded right back in the top half of the fifth inning. Briana Marcelino delivered a big three run homer, her seventh of the year to put the Huskies back in front 4-1.
UConn went on to add 2 more runs to the lead in the sixth inning. Giuliana Abruscato came off the bench and hit a sac fly to score Lexi Hastings. Lauren Benson hit a single to left field, scoring Sami Barnett making it 6-1 Huskies.
Marybeth Olson came in relief for Sokolsky in the sixth inning. She picked up right where Sokolsky left off closing out the win for the Huskies.
UConn moves to 30-14 on the year and 16-3 in the BIG EAST. They will look to secure the series win tomorrow at 1:00pm.
