Softball set for series at Seton Hall

South Orange, NJ – UConn (29-14) heads to Seton Hall (17-17) for a three game series with the Pirates.
UConn is coming off a midweek win over Merrimack and a series win over Providence last weekend. The Huskies are currently sitting at the top of the BIG EAST standings with a 15-3 conference record. Seniors Briana Marcelino and Reese Guevarra have led the Huskies all year at the top of the lineup knocking in a combined 60 runs, with 96 hits, and nine home runs. The Huskies have also gotten production from freshman Lexi Hastings as she has a .343 batting average, with 24 runs batted in.
The pitching staff has really come on strong in conference play. As a staff they have a combined 1.84 era, with 145 strikeouts in BIG EAST play. The Huskies have gotten strong contributions from all four pitchers on staff. They will look to build on their conference success this weekend against the Pirates.
Seton Hall are 6-9 in conference play so far and are coming off a series win over Georgetown. The Pirates have a young lineup and can swing the bats very well. They rank second in the BIG EAST in slugging percentage, and third in batting average. The Pirates are led by freshman shortstop Taylor Hill who was named conference Player and Freshman of the Week for her performance against Georgetown. She leads the team in batting average, hits, and runs batted in.
The series opener is set for Friday at 3:00pm. Game two will be on Saturday at 1:00pm. The series finale is set for Sunday at 12:00pm.
