Softball splits doubleheader against St. Joe's

Storrs, CT – UConn wins second game against St. Joe's on a walk off hit by Reese Guevarra. The Huskies now move to 34-15 on the season.
Elise Sokolsky started in the circle in game one for the Huskies. She went six innings striking out five.
UConn got on the board first in the third inning with a single by Guevarra scoring Erika Coreth giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Olivia Sappington added to the lead in the fourth inning with a sac fly to score Lexi Hastings making it 2-0.
The Hawks took the lead in the fifth inning scoring five runs giving them the lead for good in this one.
Meghan O'Neil dazzled in game two for the Huskies. She pitched 6.2 scoreless innings notching a game high 15 strikeouts. On the day she finished with 17 punch outs after tossing a scoreless frame in game one.
The Huskies struggled to get the bats going in a pitcher's duel. It was the big hit off the bat of Guevarra to seal the win for the Huskies in the bottom of the seventh. She singled to center to score Sami Barnett giving the Huskies their fifth walk off win of the season.
UConn will be back in action next weekend in Storrs, as they close out the regular season against conference foe Villanova.
