Huskies Run at Historic Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The UConn women's track and field team wrapped up their weekend of competiting at the 126th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field. The Huskies also had a small lineup of athletes competing at UMass on Saturday as the team wrapped up their final competition before hosting the 2022 BIG EAST Championship in Storrs in two weeks.
"It was great to be back at the Penn Relays," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Greg Roy. "A productive weekend at a very high level entering the Championship season.great Mia Nahom was awesome in the 1500. Emma Chee did a great job and grabbed a top-4 finish in the champions pole vault while Brynn won in the javelin."
On the track…
- The UConn 4x400 team of Raquel Rosa (Waterbury, Conn.), Gabby Davis (Franklin Park, NJ), Jalah Cooper (Windsor, Conn.) and Ta'Jae Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill.) took third in the college race, clocking in at 3:47.36, the fastest time this season.
- In the college distance medley relay, the Husky team of Jenna Zydanowicz (West Hartford, Conn.), Sophia Castronovo (Emerson, NJ), Allie Aslup (Durham, Conn.) and Emma Krebs (Roxbury, Conn.) took fourth with a time of 11:35.93.
- Senior Mia Nahom (New Milford, Conn.) was seventh in the 1500 meter college championship race, clocking in at 4:18.97.
- Junior Randi Burr (Westerly, R.I.) was 13th in the 5000 meter college race, clocking in at 16:35.71.
In the field…
- Freshman Brynn Madonna (Allendale, NJ) won the college division of the javelin with a throw of 44.40 meters, setting a new PR. Sophomore Julia Moraitis (Wilbraham, Mass.) was eighth with a toss of 39.82 meters.
- Freshman Natalia Surdej (Lancaster, NY) took third in the college hammer throw, posting a throw of 57.29 meters. In the championship division of the hammer, junior Mikyla Rodgers (South Huntington, NY) was 11th at 54.04 meters.
- In the college championship high jump, junior Patricia Mroczkowski (Berlin, Conn.) was seventh with a height of 1.71 meters.
- Junior Emma Chee (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) was fourth in the college championship of the pole vault at 4.03 meters. Freshman Kalli Knott (Erie, Pa.) was eighth in the college division of the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.78 meters.
- Sophomore Jasmine Barrow (Athens, Ga.) was 14th in the college triple jump at 11.86 meters.
- Freshman Emily Alty (Asburn, Ontario) was 12th in the college discus with a throw of 45.15 meters.
At UMass
- Sophomore Susie Okoli (New Haven, Conn.) set two PRs, finishing third in the shot put with a new best throw of 13.24 meters and fourth in the discus at 40.00 meters.
- Freshman Chloe Thomas (Dundas, Ontario) was second in the 1500 meters at 4:28.37.
