Nelson Repeats As BIG EAST Golfer Of The Week

NEW YORK – UConn grad student Jared Nelson has been named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week for the second straight week after an outstanding performance at the Hartford Hawks Invitational, held at Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn.
Nelson (Rutland, Vt.), who was named the league's Co-Golfer of the Week last week after winning individual medalist honors in the Doc Gimmler Invitational, fired three straight sub-70 rounds at the Hawks Invitational and finished with an 11-under, 69-68-68=205 to finish second among the 95-player field. He led the Huskies to a third-place finish among 16 teams.
It is the fourth time in his career that Nelson has been named the Golfer of the Week. He now has a streak of six consecutive sub-70 rounds and will attempt to add to the streak when the Huskies return to action at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse on Oct. 2-4.
