Huskies Finish Third at Spring Opening Event

DADE CITY, FL – The UConn men's golf team had three golfers finish in the top-20 on the way to a third-place finish at the 2026 Lake Jovita Invitational to open up the spring portion of their schedule.
The Huskies finished tied with Winthrop in third place in the 14-team field, both finishing -12-under. UConn shot even par 288 over the opening round Monday morning and then came back in the afternoon to shoot six-under 282. On Tuesday, the Huskies closed out the tournament with another 282 as a team at the Lak Jovita Resort Country Club.
The BIG EAST claimed all three top-spots in the tournament with Xavier winning at 846 (-18) and Butler finishing second at 849 (-15).
UConn was led by senior Connor Goode (Glastonbury, CT) who had his best finish of the season by finishing in a tie for third place on the leader board. Goode was under par in all three rounds of the tournament. Good fired a 69 on Monday's opening round then followed that with a 68 in round two, his lowest round of the season. He closed it out on Tuesday with a one-under 71 for a three-round score of 208, his low tourney score of the season. It was his third top-10 finish on the year.
Junior Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT) notched his fourth top-20 finish in five events this year by tying for 16th in the field. Sawka shot a one-under 71 in the opening round and a 74 to close out Monday. He came back strong on Tuesday with a four-under 68 to shoot 213 (-3) for the tournament.
Sophomore Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) had his third top-20 finish of the season thanks to a 214 (-2) to tie for 20th overall. Blanchette shot 75 in his first round and then was under par in rounds two (70) and three (69) for his low tourney score of the season.
Rounding out UConn's top-five was sophomore Kai-Jun Huang (Taipei, Taiwan) in 33rd with a 217 (73-70-74) and classmate Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) in 71st with a 225 (76-75-74). Freshman Brennan Korn (Scottsdale, AZ), playing as an individual, finished 81st with a score of 229 (80-72-77).
The Huskies are back in Florida for their next tournament when they take part in the Watersound Invitational at the Watersound Club in Panama City Beach.
