Huskies Drop Big East Opener To Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, New Jersey- The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team dropped their Big East conference opener in five sets Friday night.
Seton Hall would open the game firing on all cylinders jumping out to an early 9-5 lead. Senior Caylee Parker would not let the Pirates build off that lead as she would step up and fire home multiple kills to bring the Huskies back within striking distance. The first set would be a back-and-forth battle between the Huskies and Pirates with Seton Hall ultimately coming away with the 25-23 victory. Parker would finish set one with six kills.
Set two would be a thrilling battle as neither team was able to obtain a lead larger than two points. UConn and Seton Hall would continue to trade points. The Huskies would receive contributions from a variety of players, as Parker would finish set two with three kills, and Kennadie Jake-Turner and Allie Garland would finish with two. Seton Hall would eventually take the second set by a final of 26-24 and take a two-set lead over the Huskies.
UConn would not go down without a fight as they would win the third set by a final of 25-15 and take home the fourth set by a final of 25-20. UConn would continue to be led by Caylee Parker who would combine for six kills in the two sets. Jasmine Davis would showcase her abilities in the two sets, finishing with nine kills. UConn would come back from two sets down to force a winner take all fifth set.
Seton Hall would come out firing in the fifth set and never look back. The Huskies would continue to fight and claw their way back, but the Pirates would remain just out of reach and come away with the 15-12 fifth set victory.
