UConn Falls To Northeastern in First Game At Toscano Family Ice Forum

STORRS, Conn. -Â Â The UConn Huskies fell to Northeastern Huskies Saturday evening in the opening game at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. Chase Bradley, Roman Kinal and Samu Salminen were the goal scorers for UConn, while Northeastern scored three goals in the third period to come away victorious.Â
UConn got on the board first when Chase Bradley took a cross ice pass from Matthew Wood and drove the net sneaking the puck past Northeastern netminder Devon Levi. With the one goal lead, UConn's defense and sophomore goaltender Logan Terness stood strong keeping Northeastern at bay as they entered the break with the one goal lead.Â
In the second period senior captain Roman Kinal extended the UConn lead as he positioned himself in front of the net and tipped home the puck off a shot by Harrison Rees. Northeastern wouldn't back down as they cut the UConn lead in half late in the period and entered the break trailing by one goal.Â
The third period was all Northeastern as they went on to score three goals in the period, including two from Aidan McDonough. With under a minute left in the game, freshman Samu Salminen put home a rebound to cut the Northeastern lead to one, but the Huskies would run out of time as they would fall to Northeastern by a final of 4-3 and fall to 13-7-3 on the season.Â

UConn will turn their attention to Massachusetts as they will face off against UMass in a home and home series January 20 and 21. UConn will travel to UMass Jan. 21 and host the minutemen at Toscano Family Ice Forum Saturday January 21.Â
