#13 Huskies Set For Home and Home with UMass

·       The UConn Huskies will begin a home and home with Massachusetts Friday Jan.19.The Huskies will head to Amherst Mass. Friday before hosting the Minutemen at Toscano Family Ice Forum Saturday January 20.
·       This will be the first matchup this season between UConn and the Minutemen. The last time these two teams faced eachother was at the TD Garden for the Hockey East Championship
·       The UConn Huskies enther the matchup with UMass ranked 13 in the national polls.Â
·       This is the Huskies 13th consecutive week in the national polls.
·       The Huskies are looking to bounce back following back to back losses to Northeastern. The first time all season the Huskies lost a series and the second time UConn has lost back to back games this season (Merrimack + BU).
·       UConn has outscored their opponents this season 70-61. 16 different Huskies have registered a Goal to start the season while 19 Huskies have registered at least one point.
·       The Huskies special teams continues to be a focus as they have only let in 12 power play goals all season out of 98 attempts. The Huskies currently rank 3rd in the country in penalty kill % with a 88.0% kill trailing Dartmouth (91.7), and Ohio State(89.5)
·       UConn has played in 6 series this season against a ranked oppenent. The Huskies are currently 4-4-3 vs Ranked opponents this season.
·       UConn goaltenders, Logan Terness and Arsenii Sergeev have both been named to the Richter Award Watchlist for National Goaltender of the year.
·       Junior Forward Ryan Tverberg has recently been announced as a Hobey Baker Award nominee. On the season Tverberg has 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points.
·       The Huskies continue to receive contributions from all four lines. The Huskies line of Jake Percival, Hudson Schandor and Ryan Tverberg was one of the Huskies most succesfull lines in the first half of the season.
·       Junior Ryan Tverberg currently leads the Huskies with 10 goals on the season.Followed by Chase Bradley with 9 and Matthew Wood with 8 goals.
·       Freshman Samu Salminen has registered a point in 4 of the last 6 games for the Huskies.
·       Defenseman Andrew Lucas continues to be a force on both ends of the ice which includes dishing out 16 assists and sitting second on the team in points with 18.
·       The Huskies Freshman have combined for 22 total goals on the season and 25 assists
·       Massachusetts is coming off back-to-back loses to Boston University and New Hampshire
