Huskies Back On the Road to Face Union

- The UConn Huskies will head to Schenectady, New York to begin a two-game road trip against Union College
- The Huskies are coming off an 0-2 weekend against Holy Cross, which featured only one UConn goal.
- These two teams faced off last season in Hartford. The Huskies won both matchups last season, one in overtime and one in regulation.
- The Huskies have relied heavily on their young players to begin the season, as their top 5-point scorers thus far are either freshman or sophomores.
- Leading the way for the Huskies is freshman Jake Richard. Through four games, Richard has two goals and two assists.
- Although the Huskies have had trouble on their power play (1 for 15), the UConn penalty kill has caused issues for opposing teams, holding the opposition to 1-18 on the power play.
- Huskies goaltenders have been relied heavily early this season and have performed. The goaltenders are ready for yet another challenge as Union has scored 11 goals thus far.
- The Garnet Chargers are also coming off an 0-2 weekend. Union dropped two games on the road last weekend against Colorado College
- The Huskies return plenty of offensive power from last season. The Huskies returned 222 total points from last season which ranked 8th amongst NCAA Division I teams.
- The Huskies return 4 of their 5 top goal scorers as well as their top offensive defenseman Andrew Lucas.
- Fresh faces for the Huskies: UConn welcomed 7 newcomers to Storrs CT... 5 freshman and two transfers. In the group of 7, three are NHL Draft picks (Muldowney, Richard, Haider).
- Heading into the season, senior Captain Hudson Schandor is tied for second in the NCAA with 8 game winning goals. Meanwhile senior captain Andrew Lucas ranks in the top ten in the NCAA in Points and Assists by active Defenseman.
- New transfer senior goaltender Ethan Haider ranks in the top 10 in the NCAA amongst active goaltenders in games played, wins, goals against average and shutouts.
- Matthew Wood is back after a successful freshman campaign. The sophomore became the highest draft pick in program history this past summer as he was selected with the 15 overall pick by the Nashville Predators. Through four games, Wood currently has two goals and one assist.
