STORRS – The No. 4 UConn men's basketball team (7-0) made history with an 84-64 victory over New Hampshire (4-3) on Monday night at Gampel Pavilion. The win was UConn's 24th-straight victory over a non-conference opponent by double-figures, setting a new NCAA record for such a streak.
Donovan Clingan (Bristol, Conn.) scored a career-high 29 points on 12-of-13 shooting and Tristen Newton (El Paso, Texas) posted a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead the Huskies in the win. UConn was able to overcome a cold shooting night from distance by scoring 52 points in the paint and out-rebounding New Hampshire by 21.
How it Happened
With the score tied 8-8 early, UConn ripped off a 16-0 run that took nearly seven minutes of game time to build a big early advantage. The Wildcats used eight first half 3-pointers to stay within striking distance, but UConn was still able to take a 45-30 advantage to the break.
The Huskies pushed their lead to as many as 28 midway through the second half. New Hampshire continued to impress from the 3-point line and prevented the lead from growing beyond that in the eventual 20-point victory.
Head Coach Dan Hurley on the result
"Thought we played really well… they're a sneaky tough team to play against because of the playing five out and the center is a tremendous 3-point shooter. Obviously disappointed in the last 10 minutes – [they] were excruciating."

- The Huskies held New Hampshire to a 36.0 mark from the floor, but UNH hit 13-of-27 from 3-point range
- UConn out-rebounded New Hampshire 49-28, getting 10 rebounds from Newton, eight from Samson Johnson (Lome, Togo) and seven from Clingan

- Clingan became the fourth different Husky this season with a 20-point game

- It also marks the first time a Husky has recorded a double-double in consecutive games since Adama Sanogo had three-straight to cap the 2023 NCAA Tournament
