Huskies Fall Short in Overtime in the Hockey East Quarterfinals

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team fell short in overtime to Boston College in the Hockey East Quarterfinals by a score of 4-3 on Saturday.
Both teams battled hard going back and forth the whole game. UConn put up 36 shots on goal while Boston College put up 32. A player from each of both teams scored two goals. UConn's Brooke Campbell scored one in the second period and another one in the third. For Boston College, Katie Pyne scored one in the third period and another one in overtime to secure the win.
Period 1: Shots were firing in the first period for the Huskies and the Eagles. By the end of the period, BC had 12 and UConn had 9. The Eagles would get on the board first with less than two minutes in the period. Caroline Goffredo would score the opening goal to end the period with BC up one.
Period 2: In the middle of the second period, UConn would respond. Christina Walker would rip a shot to Brooke Campbell as Campbell would get a stick on it to hit the back of the net. Shortly after, BC would retain the lead with a goal by Abby Newhook. However, Jada Habisch came in for the punishing shot to knot it back up at two apiece with the assist by Brianna Ware. The score would remain at 2-2 at the end of the second.
Period 3: The shots began to ramp up even more in the third period. UConn would have 33 shots on goal to BC's 30 at the end of the period. The Huskies would carry out an aggressive offense ripping shot after shot to finally take the lead with the second goal by Campbell from the delivery by Jada Habisch. With under four minutes to go, BC's Katie Pyne would even it up to then end the period at 3-3.
At 2:39 in overtime, Katie Pyne would score her second of the night and secure the win for the Eagles to advance to the Hockey East Semifinals.
