Softball heads to Villanova this weekend

VILLANOVA, Penn. – The UConn softball team (17-10, 6-3 BIG EAST) is set for a three game series at Villanova (18-13, 5-1 BIG EAST). All games will be streamed on FloSports.
The Huskies are coming off a series win over Georgetown last weekend; their third straight series win to kick off conference play. UConn hasn't lost a conference series since the 2021 season.
The Huskies have a dynamic lineup leading the BIG EAST in batting average as a team (.297), and on base percentage (.401). Makenzie Mason has been a steady presence for the Huskies in her junior season. She holds an impressive slash line of .388/.510/.455 with five extra base hits, and ten runs scored.
UConn's pitching staff has been led by Payton Kinney and Hope Jenkins this season. Kinney holds a staff high 2.92 era, with 56 strikeouts in 52.1 innings pitched. Jenkins has a staff best seven wins in her freshman campaign, striking out 57 batters in 76 innings pitched. Jenkins is coming off an impressive performance in the midweek at Boston University tossing six innings with seven strikeouts.
Villanova is coming into the weekend on a ten game winning streak. The Wildcats have a productive offense as they rank at the top of the BIG EAST in almost every offensive category. The Huskies lead the all-time series 45-14.
Game one of the series will be Friday at 3:00pm. The series will continue on Saturday and Sunday with both games starting at noon.
