Softball has eight game win streak snapped at Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The UConn softball team lost a heartbreaker on Tuesday afternoon, losing to Boston College 4-3 on a walk off, splitting the season series with the Eagles.

Payton Kinney started in the circle for the Huskies going 1.1 innings with three strikeouts. Meghan O'Neil came in relief for Kinney in the second inning. She went 4.2 innings, keeping the Huskies in it only allowing one run through four innings.

Boston College took an early three run lead, scoring one run in the first inning and two in the second inning.

UConn got on the board in the third inning off the bat of Lexi Hastings, as she hit her first triple of the season, scoring Makenzie Mason from first base. Hastings now extends her on-base streak to 25 straight games and stretches her hitting streak to ten straight games.

Both teams struggled to get anything going offensively for the next three innings as both pitchers were in command.

The Huskies tied the game in the top of the seventh, down to their final strike, Hastings once again delivered, this time with a two run home run to dead center, her fourth of the year, knotting the game up at three.

Boston College responded in the bottom of the seventh with a walk off single, handing the Huskies their second walk off loss of the season and ending the win streak at eight. UConn now moves to 25-11 overall on the season.

The Huskies will return home this weekend for a series with the Butler Bulldogs. UConn sits atop the BIG EAST at 12-3 with Butler in third place at 9-3. Tickets are available HERE.
