Softball set for series at Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. – The UConn softball team (28-11) heads to Creighton (18-24) this weekend for a three game series with the Blue Jays. The Huskies currently sit in first place in the BIG EAST at 15-3, while Creighton is 4-11 and coming off a series loss at Georgetown.
UConn is coming into the weekend coming off their third straight series sweep and winners in eleven of their last twelve games. The Huskies continue to get it done at the plate, ranking at the top of the conference in batting average (.301), on-base percentage (.397), and stolen bases (95).
In the circle, the Huskies lead the conference in batting average against, holding opponents to a .206 average, with 234 strikeouts this season. The Huskies have relied on three pitchers in Payton Kinney (11-5), Hope Jenkins (11-2), and Meghan O'Neil (5-4). Kinney and Jenkins rank at the top of the conference strikeouts, wins, and opposing batting average. O'Neil currently ranks second in the country in saves with six this season.
Creighton is currently fighting for a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament as four teams are tied in sixth place. The Blue Jays have a potent lineup ranking in the top of the BIG EAST in most offensive categories, with six hitters batting over .300.
Game one is set for Friday at 5:00pm, with game two coming on Saturday at 2:00pm. The series finale will be Sunday at 1:00pm. All games will be streamed on FloSports.
