UConn Ready for NCAA Qualifiers

NCAA East Qualifying Rounds Schedule of EventsÂ
STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's and women's track & field teams prepare for the NCAA East First Round from May 24 to May 27Â as 18 athletes compete for a spot at nationals hosted by University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.Â
UConn is well-represented for the NCAA qualifiers in the east region with many strong performances to show from this past season.Â
There will be 12 men and 6 women competing for a spot at the national stage in the 2023 track & field championships in Austin, Tx. After a dominant performance at the BIG EAST Championships with the second most points scored ever in history in the BIG EAST for the men and the fourth most points ever scored in BIG EAST history for the women, UConn will look to continue excellent results this season at the NCAA qualifying rounds over the course of the next few days. Â
For the men; the qualifiers are Mahamed Sharif in the 800 meters, Terrel Williams in the 110-meter hurdles, James Maniscalco in the 5,000 meters, Wellington Ventura in the 400-meter hurdles, Travis Snyder in the pole vault, Marc Morrison in the long jump, Kasey Savage in the high jump. Also joining them will be three field athletes in the javelin throw; Colin Winkler, Connor Hayford, and Tanner Jameson; as well as Chris Lepore and Kevin Cawley in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase. Â
For the women; the qualifiers are Chloe Thomas in the 1,500 meters, Brynn Madonna in the javelin throw, Natalia Surdej in the hammer throw, and Patricia Mroczkowski in the high jump. Also joining them will be A'liyah Thomas as she will compete in both the long jump and 100-meter hurdles; as well as Jasmine Barrow who will compete in the long jump and triple jump.Â
The four-day event is set to begin on Wednesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. ET. Then, for the next three days the start time on Thursday is at 10 a.m., start time on Friday is at 1 p.m., and start time on Saturday is at 1 p.m.Â
