UConn Tennis Welcomes 3 New Huskies

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's tennis program announced the additions of three student athletes for the 2023-24 season, welcoming three freshmen: Isabella Asenov, Caroline Hinshaw, and Victoria Matos.
"I am looking forward to welcoming our three new recruits to the team this fall," Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall said. "All three have had outstanding junior careers and will immediately make an impact in our program. In addition, they have done outstandingly in the classroom and will definitely represent our team and school in a positive way. Welcome Isabel, Victoria, and Caroline."
The new-look Huskies are gearing up for the fall slate with the first invitational tournament on Friday, Sept. 8.
Meet the New Huskies
Isabella Asenov, Fr., Vancouver, British Columbia
Asenov comes to Storrs after competing at Sutherland Secondary School in Vancouver. In 2023, Asenov won first place at the Ojai Women's Doubles Open. Asenov also ranks third on the British Columbia Tennis Ranking list. Additionally, Asenov is a J4 Vancouver runner-up and trains at the British Columbia National Junior Tennis program.
Caroline Hinshaw, Fr., Centerville, Ohio
Hinshaw comes to Storrs after competing at the varsity level at Centerville High School in Ohio. Hinshaw found success in doubles play as a two-time doubles state champion and a Bronze Ball National Doubles winner. Asenov is a three-time member on the All-Ohio First Team. On top of that, Asenov is a three-time Conference Singles Player of the Year and a three-time All-Area Singles Player of the Year.
Victoria Matos, Fr., Coram, N.Y.
Matos comes to Storrs after competing at the varsity level at Longwood High School from the 7th grade to the 12th grade in Middle Island, N.Y. From 2019 to 2022, Matos was a four-time Girl's Varsity Section XI Division 3 Champion. In juniors in 2022 and 2023, Matos was a JTT USTA Eastern Section winner. Also, in 2023, Matos was G18's Doubles L3 Bradenton, Fla. Champion.
