No. 11 Huskies Set for No. 2 Minnesota this Weekend

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team prepares for a two-game road series against Minnesota on Friday, Jan. 5 and Saturday, Jan. 6 for the first series back from the break.Â
The last time the Huskies took the ice was on Saturday, Dec. 2 against Boston College resulting in a 2-2 decision. UConn currently stands at No. 11 in the USCHO national poll with an 11-4-2 overall record and a 9-3-1 Hockey East record. The Huskies are second in the conference.Â
Leading the way for the Huskies is Jada Habisch with 16 points including 11 goals scored and five assists. Also performing strongly this season is goaltender Megan Warrener with a combined record of 6-0-1 as well as 124 saves and a .72 goals-against average.Â
Scouting MinnesotaÂ
Entering the matchup, the Golden Gophers are ranked No. 2 in the national polls with an overall record of 14-3-1 and 10-3-1 in WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) play. Last time out, Minnesota faced No. 3 Wisconsin and split the two-game series. Leading the way is Abbey Murphy with 33 points including 21 goals and 12 assists. Additionally, goaltender Lucy Morgan is undefeated on the season in seven games played with 164 saves and a 1.13 goals-against average. Â
UConn vs. Minnesota will face off beginning at 7 p.m. ET on Friday and 3 p.m. ET on Saturday. Both games will be streamed live on B1G+. Â
