Huskies Set for Game vs Hawks
2/22/2024 8:55:00 PM | Women's Lacrosse
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The No.25 UConn women's lacrosse team (0-2) is set to take on the Saint Joseph's Hawks (0-2) on Friday at 1:00 pm in Philly. This is the third road game for the Huskies in a stretch of five to start their season.
Both UConn and Saint Joseph's are coming into the game 0-2. UConn was edged out by then-No.4 James Madison in a neutral site contest at the US Lacrosse Facility on Saturday afternoon. A second-half comeback for the Huskies fell short as they lost, 15-14. Similarly, the Hawks were edged out by Colorado, with their second-half comeback falling just short, losing 7-6. This is just the second time these two teams have seen each other; the first was last season in 2023 as the Huskies beat the Hawks at home in Storrs.
For the second straight game, Susan Lafountain scored four goals for the Huskies in their loss. Rayea Davis and Jenna Giardina each notched a hat trick, followed up by two goals apiece from Abby Charron and Kate Shaffer as the Huskies outscored the Dukes 10-5 in the second half.
Maddie Yoder and Kate Fuhrman each had two goals for the Saint Joseph's Hawks in their loss to Colorado. Alexa Capazzoli assisted twice as the Hawks were outshop 29-14.
The game is slated for 1:00 pm at Sweeney Field and can be watched here.
