STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's hockey team fell to Boston University Friday evening by a final of 6-1.
The Huskies dug themselves a quick hole Friday as Boston University capitalized on two odd man rushes to jump out to an early 2-0 lead. The Huskies tried to cut the lead to one late in the first period, with multiple offensive chances, however, Mathieu Caron of the Terriers blanked the Huskies in the first period.
UConn cut the deficit to one in second period, as Samu Salminen crashed the net and put home a rebound following a Jake Percival shot. Shortly after, the Terriers scored two power play goals to take a three-goal lead heading into the third period.
The third period was penalty ridden, with the teams combining for 11 total penalties in the third period. UConn was unable to find the back of the net again and Boston University scored twice to take the 6-1 lead. Boston University locked down and held the Huskies scoreless in the third period to come away with the victory.
The Huskies will look to bounce back tomorrow at 7pm as they travel to Agganis Arena to take on the Terriers. The game can be streamed live on ESPN+.
