KINGSTON, R.I. - The UConn baseball team (7-11) lost 4-1 at Rhode Island on Tuesday afternoon on a blustery day at Bill Beck Field.
UConn jumped in front 1-0 in the fourth after playing a little small ball. Paul Tammaro was hit by a pitch and moved up to second on a Korey Morton bunt single.
After Luke Broadhurst's sacrifice bunt advanced runners to second and third, Matt Malcom drove in a run with an RBI ground out.Â
That was the only offense the Huskies were able to muster up on Tuesday with just two hits on the afternoon.
Rhode Island scored two runs in the fourth and two in the sixth that included home runs from Michael Anderson and Anthony DePino.
Joe Cinnella made the start on the mound and gave the Huskies five innings of two-run ball that featured a season-high six strikeouts.
Braden Quinn continued his strong 2024 campaign with 2.2 shutout innings out of the pen.
The Huskies look to rebound on Wednesday with their home opener against LIU at 2:05 p.m. at Elliot Ballpark.
