STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (10-15) pounded out a season-high 16 hits en route to a 14-6 victory against Central Connecticut State (6-13) on Monday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.Â
The Huskies utilized a pair of six-run frames in the second and eighth innings to win their eighth-straight game against the Blue Devils.
Paul Tammaro got the Huskies on the board first on Monday with an RBI single, the UConn shortstop finished the day with three hits and drove in a pair.
Matt Garbowski also drove in a pair of runs as part of his three-hit effort including his RBI single that made it 2-0 in the first.
Jake Studley had a career-day for the Huskies with his first career four-hit game. The right fielder had a pair of doubles on the day and scored three-runs for the Huskies.
Freshman Tyler Minick delivered a milestone moment in the eighth inning with his first career home run, a grand slam, that helped create distance and give UConn a 13-6 advantage at the time.Â
LHP Joe Cinnella was excellent out of the UConn bullpen, earning his first win as a Husky with 3.1 shutout frames that featured three hits, zero walks and a pair of strikeouts.
Next up, the Huskies face off against Columbia at 3:05 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2 at Elliot Ballpark.
