WSOC Hosts Wisconsin at Morrone on Thursday

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (0-0-1) hosts Wisconsin (0-1-0) on Thursday, August 22 at 5 p.m, at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. The game can be seen for Free on UConn+.Â
The game is part of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team playing in the second game of the night at 7:30 p.m. If you have tickets to either game, you can use them for both the women's or men's game.
UConn is looking to bounce back after a season opening draw, 2-2, against Vermont last Saturday in Storrs. Chioma Okafor scored the first goal of the season in the late stages of the first half, while Abbey Jones scored a key equalizer in the 83rd minute to preserve the draw.
Wisconsin is coming off a, 1-0, loss to No. 3 BYU in Provo last week. The Badgers were ranked No. 19 in the United Coaches poll entering the season and were picked sixth in the new 18-team Big Ten Conference.
The Badgers reached the NCAA Second Round last season with a 14-5-4 record and have been the NCAA's in six of the last seven fall tournaments (not including spring 2021).Â
UConn will be without sophomore midfielder Anaya Johnson for tomorrow's game and the near future with Johnson getting the honor of playing for team Canada in the upcoming U-20 World Cup in Colombia.Â
The Huskies are 4-3 all-time against Wisconsin with the last meeting coming in 2013 in Storrs. The Huskies lost, 3-2, with Wisconsin forward and current Team USA member Rose Lavelle scoring the first goal of the match.
The last time the Huskies played a Big Ten opponent was against Rutgers in 2018.Â
