HARTFORD – Silas Demary Jr. posted the first triple-double of his career and helped No. 3 UConn (5-1) to a 72-49 victory over Bryant (1-5) on Sunday evening at a sold-out PeoplesBank Arena. Demary Jr. posted exactly 10 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds to notch the first triple-double for a Husky since Feb. 2024.
The Huskies took a 16-point lead to the half and controlled the second frame, going up as many as 23 and never allowing Bryant to get closer than 17 over the final 15 minutes of regulation. UConn held Bryant under 30 percent from the floor and out-rebounded the Bulldogs by 15 in the triumph, leading wire-to-wire despite their own struggles from the field. It marked the first time since Feb. 11, 2025 that UConn won a game despite shooting under 40 percent.
Eric Reibe led the Huskies in scoring for the second-straight game with 16 points, going 6-of-10 from the field and adding six rebounds. Demary Jr. and Reibe were the lone Huskies to finish in double-figures, with Demary Jr. adding a game-high four steals to his triple-double. For the Bulldogs, Timofie Rudovskii had 11 points and Ty Tabales scored 10. Jayden Ross stuffed the stat sheet for UConn with eight points, five rebounds and two seals, posting a game-best +24 plus/minus.
How it Happened
With the contest 6-5 in the early going, the Huskies reeled off a 9-0 run to take 15-5 lead, capped by a Ross dunk that prompted a timeout at 11:24 of the first. After Bryant snapped the run, Connecticut reeled off another 7-0 spurt to go up 22-7 at the 7:49 stoppage, then yet another 7-0 joly gave UConn its first 20-point lead at 29-9 with 4:03 on the clock. Overall it came out to a 23-4 run over more than 11 minutes of game action.
UConn went into the half with a 37-21 lead and held Bryant 5-of-18 (27.8 percent) from the floor in the opening stanza. The Bulldogs scored five of the first six points in the second half to briefly pull within 12, but the Huskies once again turned on the jets with an 8-0 run and took a 46-26 lead with a Demary steal-and-score at 15:18.
The Huskies took their largest lead when Solo Ball hit a cutting Ross for a reverse lay-in that made it 55-34 with 10:29 to play. Demary Jr. completed his triple-double with 3:01 remaining, feeding Reibe in the post for a two-hand flush and his 10th assist. The Huskies pushed the margin to its final of 23 in the final minute when Jacob Furphy banked home his first career basked.
