12/19/2025 11:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
The UConn men's basketball team will host its annual Coaches vs. Cancer game on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 12:30 p.m. when the Huskies take on Villanova at PeoplesBank Arena.
When doors open at 11:00 a.m., fans will find Andrea Hurley, wife of head coach Dan Hurley and other spouses and family of the coaching and support staff at the Coaches vs. Cancer table, located on the concourse near section 124. Fans are encouraged to visit www.UConnHuskies.com/CVC to pre-submit a photo of a loved one who has been affected by cancer. Andrea and other spouses of our coaching staff will create buttons with those photos for fans to pick up and wear at the game. The buttons will be handed out at a Coaches vs. Cancer table on the concourse prior to the start of the game. Deadline for submitting photos is Sunday, January 18 at 11:59 p.m. More information will be sent via email to fans who submit a photo for a Coaches vs. Cancer button. Button photos submitted in past seasons but not picked up will also be available at the game.
Fans who do not pre-submit photos can bring photos to the game and have a button made upon arrival. If bringing in a printed-out photo, please make sure it is 3" or smaller. Cancer awareness ribbons will also be available at the table for fans to wear.
For the second year in a row, doctors from the Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at UConn Health have partnered with Andrea Hurley and UConn Athletics to offer fans free cancer screenings and education at the game. Fans are encouraged to stop by their tables throughout the concourse before halftime to ask questions and arrange screenings for lung cancer, mammograms, and colonoscopies. Additionally, skin cancer checks will be available in the concourse through halftime. Fans are encouraged to take this opportunity to learn more about cancer prevention and protecting their health. UConn Health is the official healthcare provider of the UConn Huskies.
Prior to tip-off, we will honor loved ones with a light ceremony in the stands. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and be ready to take out your phone flashlight as we light up PeoplesBank Arena in honor of those affected by the disease. During the game, patients from the Connecticut Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders will be honored on the court. Other special recognitions and cancer awareness-related initiatives will take place before and during the game.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide initiative that empowers basketball coaches, their teams and their local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. The main goal is to increase cancer awareness, promote healthy living, and fundraise through activities.
