No. 1 UConn to Close 2025 at Providence

STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked UConn women's basketball team (13-0, 4-0 BIG EAST) plays its final game of 2025 at Providence (8-6, 1-2) Wednesday at Amica Mutual Pavilion at 3 p.m. The game will air on peacock/NBC Sports Network and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
UConn beat Butler, 94-47, last Sunday in Indianapolis. Sophomore Sarah Strong led the Huskies with 15 points, six rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Graduate student Azzi Fudd had 13 points and freshman Blanca Quiñonez scored 12. UConn had 48 points off 29 Bulldog turnovers and 44 bench points vs. Butler.
For the fifth time this season, Blanca Quiñonez was selected as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Quiñonez scored 12 points on 5-7 shooting in a 94-47 win at Butler on Sunday. She added three rebounds and three steals. This season, Quiñonez is averaging 10.5 points with a .584/.577/.833 shooting split.
The Huskies lead the nation with 24.3 assists per game. UConn has dished out 20+ assists in its last 12 games. Junior KK Arnold ranks second nationally with a 4.69 assist-turnover ratio.
UConn is 50-21 all-time vs. Providence and has won the last 37 meetings between the teams. The teams last met on Feb. 9 in Providence, a 77-40 win for the Huskies. Graduate student Azzi Fudd had 17 points and shot 5-for-6 from three in the game. The Friars will travel to Storrs on Feb. 22.
Providence lost to No. 3 South Carolina, 96-55, last Sunday. This season, Sabou Gueye leads the Friars with 14.1 points per game. Head coach Erin Batth is in her third season at Providence.
