Late Game-Winner Lifts Huskies over Boston University

BOSTON, Mass. – No. 7 UConn women's hockey edged the Boston University Terriers, 3-2 on Saturday afternoon after Meghane Duchesne-Chalifoux scored the game-winning goal with 7.3 seconds left in regulation. The thrilling win gives the Huskies a 6-1-1 start to Hockey East play heading into the winter break as UConn sits at 13-3-2 overall midway through the season.
The first period began with both teams trading numerous shots, but neither side managed to find the back of the net. UConn at times dominated possession of the puck in their offensive zone in the first period but could not capitalize on their opportunities, leaving the period tied at 0–0. Shots favored the Huskies, 11-4 in the first period.
Despite UConn having much of the momentum, it was Boston University who opened the scoring just five minutes into the second period. This gave the home team a brief lead to begin the period.
UConn responded ten minutes later with a power-play goal from junior forward Livvy Dewar, leveling the game at 1–1. Dewar now has a career high four goals this season for the Huskies.
The second period ended knotted at 2-2 with shots favoring the Terriers in the second frame, 11-7.
Junior forward Ashley Allard scored early in the third period, to give the Huskies a 2–1 lead. Allard has scored three goals in her last four games.
Boston University tied the game with just over four minutes remaining in regulation, leveling the score at 2–2.
With just seven seconds remaining, senior defender Meghane Duchesne-Chalifoux netted the game-winning goal for UConn, securing a 3–2 victory to close out 2025. The goal is Duchesne-Chalifoux's second of the season and first game-winner of her career.
