Huskies Fall to Providence

STORRS, Conn. – The 14th ranked UConn women's hockey team fell to the Providence Friars, 3-1 on Friday night at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. UConn moves to 17-5-2 in Hockey East and 19-10-2 overall this season.
Senior goaltender Tia Chan made her 20th start of the season for the Huskies. Chan made 25 saves, with 13 coming in the third period.
The game was scoreless through the first period as UConn edged Providence in shots, 8-7.
Jada Habisch opened the scoring four minutes into the second period for the Huskies. The senior forward scored in her fifth straight game, marking her sixth goal in the last five games. Habisch now has 12 goals this season.
UConn took the one goal lead into the second intermission as shots favored the Huskies 9-5 in the second period.
Providence came out strong in the third period, scoring three unanswered goals. The Friars scored the game tying goal four minutes into the third period off the stick of Millie Sirum. Providence took the lead on the power play, as Sarah Davies scored with just four minutes remaining in the game, making it 2-1. The Huskies continued to fight, pulling Chan from net in favor of an extra skater in search of an equalizer, but Providence forward Audrey Knapp scored an empty netter, sealing the win for the Friars.

The season series with the Providence Friars will be up for grabs on Saturday, February 15 as the Huskies head to Providence for the regular season finale. Puck drop is set for 3:00pm and will be streamed on ESPN+.
