Tia Chan Named Hockey East Goaltender of the Year, Five Huskies Receive Conference Honors

STORRS, Conn. – UConn senior goaltender Tia Chan was announced as the 2024-25 Women's Hockey East Goaltender of the Year on Friday morning. The UConn women's hockey team had a program record, five All-Star selections, and one All-Rookie Team selection.
Tia Chan (Hamilton, Ontario) becomes the third Husky netminder to receive Hockey East Goaltender of the Year honors under head coach Chris MacKenzie (Annie Belanger, 2017-18 & Elaine Chuli, 2015-16). Chan has been sensational in between the pipes for the Huskies this season. The UConn captain leads the conference in save percentage at .944, which ranks fourth in all of Division I. Chan has posted a 1.538 goals against average this season, ranking atop the conference and seventh nationally. In her 22 starts this season, she has made 572 saves, recording four shutouts.
In addition to being named Goaltender of the Year, Chan was a First Team All-Star selection along with classmate, senior defender Ava Rinker (Elverson, Pa.). Rinker has led the Huskies blue line this season dishing out a career high 17 assists, adding three goals for a season high 20 points. The veteran defender lifted the Huskies to their second straight Hockey East regular season title last weekend as Rinker scored two pivotal goals, pushing UConn past Boston University.
Freshman forward Claire Murdoch (Toronto, Ontario) received her first career conference honors, being named a Second Team All-Star and All-Rookie Team selection. Murdoch has had a phenomenal start to her collegiate career, as the rookie has been among the top point leaders in all of Hockey East this season. The Ontario native has scored 13 goals and recorded 14 assists, giving her a team high 27 points. Murdoch has netted three game winning goals and has not committed a single penalty this season.
Graduate student Jada Habisch (Buffalo, Minn.) was a Third Team All-Star selection, the second time she has earned All-Star honors in her career. This season, Habisch has scored 14 goals with 6 assists, giving her 20 points. Her two shorthanded goals this season rank atop the conference and fourth nationally. Habisch has recently been on a goal scoring tear, as the Huskies captain has netted eight goals in the final eight games of the regular season.
Sophomore forward Ashley Allard (Ottawa, Ontario) earned Third Team All-Star honors for the first time in her career. An All-Rookie Team selection a season ago, Allard continues to produce for the Huskies as UConn's top line center. This season she has season highs in goals (7) and assists (17), giving her a career high 24 points. Allard has scored two game winning goals this season, and has won 329 faceoffs, holding a .605 faceoff win percentage.
