STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (21-17) take its season-long eight game win streak into a pair of midweek contests in the state of Connecticut.
The Huskies will face off against UMass on Tuesday, April 22 at Dunkin' Park in Hartford, Conn. at 6:35 p.m. and follow it up with a Wednesday, April 23 matchup against Army at 5:05 p.m. at Elliot Ballpark. Both games will be video streamed for FREE on UConn+ and Tuesday's game will be on WFSB with Randy Brochu and Chris Jones on the call. Wednesday's game against Army will have an audio stream on Fox Sports Radio 97.9 FM.
The Huskies are coming off a three-game sweep at Elliot Ballpark against Seton Hall. UConn is now 9-1 at Elliot Ballpark this season.
On Saturday, the Huskies stole nine bases against the Pirates, pushing their season total to 92. UConn ranks 22nd in the country in stolen bases and 18th nationally with 2.42 per game. Caleb Shpur is 13th in the country with 27 stolen bases, a new career-high (Had 26 last year).
UConn is also 34th in the country with 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings. Ian Cooke and Oliver Pudvar lead the Huskies with 52 strikeouts, while closer Brady Afthim has 40 punch outs in 25.2 innings (14.29 K/9).
Tyler Minick is tied for second in the second in the BIG EAST with 12 home runs this season and second in the league with .684 slugging percentage.Â
UConn resumes its longest series against UMass with the first all-time meeting back in 1900. The Huskies lead the all-time series 97-71-3.
The Huskies and Black Knights resume their all-time series for the first time for 2005 and return to Storrs for the first meeting since 1983. UConn is 2-7-1 all-time against Army.Â
Since the opening of Dunkin' Park in 2017, the Huskies are 10-5 in the capital city.Â
