STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team was defeated by Boston University, 9-1 on Wednesday afternoon at BU Softball Field.

Redshirt junior Sydnee Koosh made her seventh start of the season in the circle. Koosh went 0.2 innings giving up five runs on four hits with a strikeout.

Boston University utilized the long ball, scoring seven of their nine runs off home runs.

The Terriers jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the bottom of the 1^st inning on two-run and three-run homers.

Graduate Jessica Walter came on in relief for Koosh during the 1^st inning, making her 22^nd appearance of the season.Walter managed to limit the Terriers offense, going 3.1 innings, giving up two runs on three hits, adding four strikeouts.

Boston University added a run to their lead in the bottom of the 2^nd inning off a solo home run to make it 6-0.

The Huskies offense got traffic on the base paths in the top of the 4^th inning, loading the bases for sophomore Heidi Barber who was hit by a pitch, forcing in Cat Petteys from third base, giving UConn their lone run of the game, 6-1.

Boston University added a pair of runs in the bottom of the 5^th inning, pushing the Terrier lead to 8-1.

Freshman Caprice Bohmer came on in relief for Walter during the 5^th inning, making her 20^th appearance this season. Bohmer closed out the remainder of the game in the circle, going 1.2 innings giving up two runs on four hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Boston University ended the game in the bottom of the 6^th inning, scoring a run to secure a run-rule victory at 9-1.

UConn's offense was limited to three hits by Terrier pitcher Kasey Ricard who tossed a complete game.
Savannah Ring has reached base safely in five straight games.
Cat Petteys has a hit in three straight games.
Heidi Barber has recorded an RBI in two of her last three games.
