Huskies Battle UMass Saturday Afternoon

STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's lacrosse (2-3) begins a stretch of five consecutive games away from Storrs, taking on the UMass Minutewomen (4-1) in Amherst on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
Previously on UConn Lacrosse:
UConn defeated UAlbany on February 28th, taking down the Great Danes 13-12 in overtime. UConn constructed an 11-6 lead, but UAlbany scored five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter, to push the game into overtime. Megan O'Brien was the hero for the Huskies in the extra period, scoring her fourth goal of the day on a free position shot to secure the win. O'Brien leads the Huskies in points (22), assists (11) and is tied with Hadley Bethke for the team lead in goals (11).
Abby Beran continues to make her presence felt on the defensive end. Beran secured a crucial draw control and caused a turnover in overtime to set up O'Brien's game-winner. Beran leads the nation in ground balls per game (5.60) and ranks seventh in caused turnovers per game (3.20).
Opposition Research:
UMass enters the weekend with a 4-1 record. The Minutewomen took down UMass Lowell, 12-6, on February 25th. Kassidy Morris led the way with five goals. Morris was selected as an Honorable Mention Preseason All-American by USA Lacrosse after earning 2025 A-10 Player of the Year honors.
UMass ranked first in the MAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Minutewomen went 15-4 last season, winning the Atlantic-10 Championship to make the NCAA Tournament. UConn won last year's matchup in Storrs on March 1st, defeated the Minutewomen, 19-16. The Huskies were fueled by a single-game program-record eight goals from Eliza Bowman. UMass leads the all-time series 12-3.
