Huskies Turn Attention to Championships After Northeastern Meet

BOSTON, MA – The UConn men's & women's track and field teams wrapped up their final meet of the regular season on Saturday competing at the Northeastern Jay Carisella and Joe Donahue Coaches Invitational.
The Huskies saw a pair of top-10 performances in the men's steeplechase on the day. UConn will now turn their attention to preparing for the 2026 BIG EAST Championship which will be at home in Storrs on May 14-16.
Men's Track:
The 3,000m steeplechase saw a pair of UConn Top-10 performances with Christian Menounos finished second overall at 8:59.55, coming in seventh all-time. Teammate Daniel Hilmer was fourth in the field and clocked a 9:04.06, ranked now ninth all-time at UConn.
UConn went 1-2 in the 100m hurdles with Mohamed Wahdan winning with a time of 14.25 seconds. Wyatt Gravier was second with a time of 14.40 seconds. Finishing fourth was Jordan Quinn in 14.69 seconds.
In the 400m hurdles, UConn's Orenthal Singletary won with a time of 52.59 seconds. Gravier was fourth at 55.96 seconds and Wahdan was fifth at 57:01.
In the 200m dash, Peyton Butler and Teyedza Jaravaza finished fifth and sixth at 21.74 and 21.83, respectively.
Noah Colangelo was ninth in the 400m dash at 49.33 seconds.
Mason Brosious took ninth in the 800m at 1:51.32.
Women's Track:
Allison McCarthy and Caitlin Thomas finished second and third in the 3,000m steeplechase. McCarthy clocked in at 10:46.47 and Thomas came in at 10:53.02.
Maia Rich was fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.32 seconds and Maegan Feeney was ninth at 15.65 seconds. Rich was sixth in the 400m hurdles at 1:04.13. Kiley Shatzel was fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.27.
Sarah Claflin was seventh in the 100m dash at 12.45 seconds.
Emerson Flaker was ninth in the 400m dash at 58.74 seconds.
Men's Field:
In the discus, Marshall Potter took second place at 51.27m followed by Nicholas Connolly in fourth at 48.33m and Lucas DeCrescenzo in seventh at 46.78m. DeCrescenzo also took seventh in the hammer with a toss of 56.93m.
Kyle Kurtz took fifth in the pole vault with a height of 4.10m.
Women's Field:
In the long jump, Jalynn Smith and Mackenzie Braunstein finished second and third. Smith had a leap of 5.75m, a new personal best, and Braunstein hit the mark of 5.58m, a new personal best as well.
Gabriela DeFelice placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 45.30m. She also was fifth in the hammer throw at 50.63m.
Ruby Tillson was second in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.60m.
Maresa Hense was eighth in the javelin with a throw of 36.93m.
