2019-20 (Senior Season): Rejoined the program for the spring semester.
2017-18 (Sophomore Season): Did not see game action.
2016-17 (Freshman Season): Played in four games during his rookie season...Made his collegiate debut in the Huskies’ 4-3 win over No. 18 St. Cloud State at the Desert Hockey Classic (Dec. 30)... Named to the 2017 Hockey East All-Academic team.
Before UConn: Nelson played with both the West Kelowna Warriors of the BCHL and the Connecticut Junior Rangers of the USPHL last season...The 6-3 defenseman played in 34 games with West Kelowna, scoring a goal with four assists, and appeared in 11 games with the Connecticut Junior Rangers, teaming with incoming classmate Ben Freeman...He had a goal and four assists in his 11 game stint... He also played with the Walpole Express of the EHL and in 2014-15 posted 24 points in 39 games...He played his high school hockey at St. John’s High School under head coach Michael Mead...The two-time captain scored 19 goals with 28 assists in his high school career and was named to the ESPN Boston High School All-State team...Also named to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette Super Team...He was also a member of the lacrosse team for three seasons and was named All-State and helped lead his team to a district championship...Off the ice, he was a National Honor Society member, an honor roll student-athlete and named an AP Scholar with Honor.
