EDUCATION
UConn Athletics has partnered with OpenDorse and its NIL package, including Opendorse Ready with Darlow™, Monitor™, and Social™ to educate and support student-athletes who wish to monetize their name, image, and likeness. For more information on the partnership, click HERE.
DISCLOSURE
Student-athletes are required to disclose all NIL activity agreements and contracts for professional services for representation. Disclosure must occur through the Opendorse platform.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICE PROVIDERS
A student-athlete may use the services of a professional service provider for advice, contract representation, and marketing in connection with NIL activities. Professional service providers are prohibited from representing a student-athlete in connection with securing professional athletic opportunities.
USE OF INSTITUTIONAL MARKS AND FACILITIES
Beginning July 1, 2022, student-athletes may request to use UConn’s marks in connection with their NIL activities. All requests will be reviewed The Office of Brand Partnerships and Trademark Management, and we are endeavoring to make this process as efficient and straightforward as possible. To that end, we have created a UConn branding and licensing request form that can be found at THIS LINK.
If you are interested in utilizing UConn institutional marks in any of your future NIL activities, please complete the request form at the link above. Completion of the form will only take a few minutes, but please do not hesitate to email licensing@uconn.edu for assistance.
Student-athletes may use institutional facilities for NIL activities, provided rental agreements are secured through the appropriate channels and applicable fees are paid.
PROHIBITED CATEGORIES
Student-athletes are prohibited from involvement in NIL activities that promote tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, controlled substances, adult entertainment or casinos.
Further details about prohibited categories can be found within the UConn Name, Image, & Likeness Procedures listed under LINKS.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT-ATHLETES
International individuals should consult with government agencies for guidance related to visa and tax implications. Student-athletes on a F-1 or J-1 visa may also consult with the UConn International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS).
