Has seen action in six games, all during 2019-20 season... Talented enough to likely have been a regular at a lower-level program, but wanted the educational programs offered at UConn... Long, lanky, tough left-handed guard who provides depth in the backcourt while pushing the Huskies’ perimeter players every day in practice... Named to 2020-21 BIG EAST All-Academic Team after being named to 2019-20 AAC All-Academic Team.
As a Junior in 2020-21: Sat out season after suffering a torn ACL in preseason practice.
As a Sophomore in 2019-20: Saw action in six games, playing a total of eight minutes, with 1 assist against New Hampshire (12/22/19)... Honored as a ‘Homegrown Husky” during 12/29/19 game against NJIT, with large contingent from hometown of Southington in attendance... Honored on UConn’s 3.0 GPA Night.
Before College: Came to UConn after playing his last two years of high school at St. Paul Catholic (Bristol, Conn.), under Coach Steve Phelps... Three-level scorer in high school -- could hit the three-pointer, score mid-range off the dribble, or get to the rim and finish with impressive jumping ability... Produced 12 double-doubles as a senior and was selected second team All-Bristol Press.
Personal Information: Matthew Thomas Garry... Born March 20, 2000... Son of Angela and Michael Garry.... Has one younger brother, Tyler.
