Women's Lacrosse Falls to Rutgers

UConn scored its first three goals on free position shots and Heather Bliss (Tully, NY) scored twice in the first half as UConn took a 6-3 lead into halftime. Senior Megan Campbell (Phoenixville, PA) got the Huskies on the board first just over one minute into the game and Bliss’ first goal of the day at 22:59 gave UConn a 2-0 lead. Rutgers answered with two goals to bring it to a 2-2 tie until Abby Morgan (West Chester, PA) scored to give UConn a lead it would keep for the first half. Bonnie Wehinger (North Syracuse, NY), Bliss and Pam Lowie (Hicksville, NY) contributed to give UConn the three-goal advantage.
The two teams traded goals to open the second half, but the Scarlet Knights began to pull away at the 13:48 mark when they reeled off five straight goals.
Connecticut’s second half scoring started when Morgan scored her second goal of the game at 26:56 while Lowie finished her hat trick with tallies at 15:08 and 1:43.
UConn’s April Pollock (North Syracuse, NY) made nine stops in net while Rutgers’ Lauren Gulotta made eight saves.
Connecticut returns to action on Wednesday, April 18 vs. Boston University.
