Women's Lacrosse Loses To UMass

The two teams traded goals for the first 10 minutes of the contest as Heather Bliss (Tully, NY) scored two. Massachusetts then scored six goals to UConn's two to take a 8-4 lead into intermission. Sue Payne (Penn Yan, NY) and Bonnie Wehinger (North Syracuse, NY) scored the Huskies third and fourth goals, respectively.
UConn opened the second half with three of the first four goals to come within two-goals as Pam Lowie (Cortland, NY), Bliss and Payne each scored. But the Minutewomen countered to hold off the Huskies, as Jada Emery and Leslie Pollock scored a pair of goals apiece to put the game out of reach. Payne and Megan Campbell (Phoenixville, PA) finished the scoring effort for the Huskies.
UConn goalkeeper April Pollock (North Syracuse, NY) made 12 stops while Massachusetts' Jen Nardi had 13 saves.
The Huskies return to action tomorrow, Thursday, April 26 at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium for a 4:00 p.m. game vs. Quinnipiac.
