Six Players Commit for the 2004 Season

STORRS, CT (January 15) – University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse head coach Bonnie Rosen announced the early signing of six incoming freshmen for the 2004 season. The following six women will join the Huskies in the fall of 2003: Shannon Burke (Camillus, NY); Kristina Harvey (North Falmouth, MA); Bonnie Levin (Swarthmore, PA); Kristin Link (Slingerlands, NY); Laura Trzasko (Plainsboro, NJ) and Janet Williams (Reisterstown, MD).
"I am so excited to have these six players join the UConn lacrosse family," said Rosen. "They are an extremely well-rounded group of student-athletes who are sure to make solid contributions to UConn both on and off the field."
Burke is a standout attacker at West Genesee High School in New York State. She was named to the 2002 All-America First Team, All-Conference New York First Team and to the All-League First Team, while earning 2001 All-League Honorable Mention. The team was crowned the 2001 and 2002 New York State Class A Champions.
Harvey hails from North Falmouth, Mass., where she built a resume at Falmouth High School as an attacker and midfielder. She was a two-time Pilgrim Conference All-State and an Upper Cape Cod All-Star (2001, 2002). As a member of the Massachusetts Elite Team, Harvey helped the team to a Silver Medal in the 2001 Bay State Lacrosse Games and a Gold Medal in 2002. Harvey was selected to the Lower New England Team that competed in the US Lacrosse National Tournament and was one of 117 players picked to attend the National Round of tryouts for the 2003 US Women’s Under-19 Lacrosse Team.
Levin is a native of Swarthmore, Penn., where she attended Episcopal Academy. An attacker, Levin spent five years on the varsity lacrosse team setting a single-season record for goals scored in the ninth grade. She was named to the Upper Atlantic Team that competed at the 2002 US Lacrosse National Tournament and the 2001 and 2002 INTERAC League Lacrosse Championship Team.
Attending Bethlehem Central High School, Link hails from Slingerlands, Penn. Link, an attacker, was a four-year starter on the four-time Sectional Championship and two-time New York State Final Four team. She was named a High School All-American her junior season and is a two-time Suburban Council All-Star First Team member. Link set a Suburban Council League record with 80 goals and 40 assists her junior year. She was part of the New York State Empire Team and was an All-Tournament Team member.
Trzasko is a standout at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School-North in New Jersey. A center midfielder, she was named the team MVP her sophomore and junior seasons, as well as being named to the All-Area First Team by the Trenton Times, Trentonian and the Princeton Packet. Trzasko helped her team to the 2001 Marge Kirsch Memorial Tournament Championship.
Lastly, Williams hails from Reisterstown, Maryland where she attended Franklin High School. A versatile player at any position, Williams was a two-time All-County/Division Team member. She captained her squad in the 2001 season.
