Huskies Overpower Lafayette

ORLANDO, FL (March 19) – The University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team handily defeated Lafayette College, 15-1, on Wednesday afternoon on the Huskies spring break trip in Orlando, Fla. UConn improved its record to 2-1 on the early season, while Lafayette dropped to 0-7 overall.
The Huskies scored nine of the 15 goals in the first half of play. The scoring charge was lead by Tracy Mullaney’s (Cockeysville, MD) four goals and hat tricks by Kelly Feeley (Collingswood, NJ) and Kariane Lauri (Memphis, NY). Adding two goals was Heather Levins (East Northport, NY), and Abbey VanDeusen (Fayetteville, NY), Tanya Kotowicz (Hicksville, NY) and Anna Konyukhov (Avon, CT) all scored one goal. Dana Stewart (Havertown, PA) aided on five Husky goals in the win, while Feeley and Lauri were each credited with an assist. Connecticut cleared the bench of all its players, including all three goalies. April Pollock (North Syracuse, NY) earned the start in net playing 30-minutes and making four saves. Jennifer Wong (Greenwood Village, CO) played for 25-minutes allowing one goal and making two saves, and rookie Kristen Haldeman (Malvern, PA) made her first collegiate appearance in goal.
Lafayette’s lone goal was scored with 5:42 left in regulation on a shot by Erin Gallagher. Both Tracy Williams and Stephanie Marcon saw time in net for a combined three saves.
Connecticut remains in Florida for spring break and will face Vanderbilt on Saturday, March 22 at 1:00 pm in Orlando.
