Huskies Dominate Quinnipiac, 16-1

STORRS, CT (March 26) – The University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team extended its winning ways with a 16-1 victory over instate opponent Quinnipiac University on Wednesday afternoon at the George J. Sherman-Family Sports Complex on the Storrs campus. The No. 20 nationally ranked Huskies have won three straight and improve to 4-1, while Quinnipiac drops to 4-2 overall, snapping its four game win streak.
The Huskies grabbed a 9-0 lead in the first half of play and then added seven in the second half to capture the victory. Tracy Mullaney (Cockeysville, MD) had four goals on the day, netting the hat trick in the first half of play. Both Heather Levins (East Northport, NY) and Jacqui Hamilton (Hopkinton, MA) netted hat tricks in the victory, while both Mullaney and Hamilton each also recorded an assist. The Bobcats held UConn scoreless for 14-minutes in the first half, the longest span in the game with a tally for either team. Also to add to Mullaney’s stats, she collected three ground balls, caused three turnovers and earned one draw control.
Quinnipiac notched its only score of the game at the 11:45 mark of the second half on a shot from Kim Unser.
The Huskies cleared its bench of players, including all three goalies. April Pollock (North Syracuse, NY) made her fifth consecutive start in net, making four saves. Jennifer Wong (Greenwood Village, CO) saw just over 10-minutes in net in the second half, allowing one goal and recording one save, and Kristen Haldeman (Malvern, PA) played five-minutes, collecting one ground ball.
Connecticut will face No. 8 and BIG EAST foe Syracuse University on Saturday, March 29 at 1 pm at the Morrone Stadium in Storrs.
