Huskies End Season With a Win Over Brown

PROVIDENCE, RI (April 28) – The University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team completed the 2004 season with an 11-9 victory over Brown on Wednesday night in Providence, RI.
The Huskies ended the season with an overall record of 8-9, while Brown drops to 6-6.
Shannon Burke (Camillus, NY), Kariane Lauri (Memphis, NY) and Kristen Link (Slingerland, NY) each scored two goals for the Huskies. Burke also added two assists on the evening.
Brown held the 6-5 advantage at halftime, but UConn went on to score six goals in the second half to take the win. Brown jumped out to an early 3-1 lead before the Huskies brought the game within one on a Burke goal at the 17:31 mark. In a four minute time span the Bears scored four goals including two by Katie Russell. The Huskies surged back to come within one on goals from Melissa MacDougall (Baldwinsville, NY), Lauri and Link.
After Brown scored two early goals in the second half, the Huskies fought back with two of their own. The Bears added one more score at the 8:26 mark, but UConn went on to notch the last four goals in the last five minutes of the game for the win. Lauri, Burke, Link and Tracy Mullaney (Cockeysville, NY) all added goals in the scoring spurt.
Jennifer Wong (Greenwood Village, CO) had seven saves in net for the Huskies.
