MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (March 8, 2005) - The University of Connecticut women's hockey team has re-entered the national polls, making their second appearance in the No. 10 spots this season in the most recent U.S. College Hockey Online Poll, released March 7, and the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Poll, released March 8.
The Huskies swept their final regular season series, winning both games on the road March 4-5 at Maine. UConn is tied for the second-longest unbeaten streak in the nation at eight games.
Connecticut made its first-ever appearance in the national rankings Feb. 22, entering both the USCHO and USA Today/AHM Polls at the No. 10 slot.
Connecticut, who completed its best regular season in school history with a 15-11-8 record (11-5-4 Hockey East), will travel to Boston, Mass., this weekend to participate in the Hockey East Tournament. After a year absence, the Huskies enter the conference tournament as the No. 3 seed, and will face No. 2 New Hampshire on Saturday, March 12 at 3:00 p.m. in the second semifinal game. The tournament is being held at Boston University's Walter Brown Arena.
