STORRS, Conn. - Rising freshman defender Rebecca Hewett (Oak Bluff, Man.) is among the 42 players invited to Hockey Canada's National Women's Under-22 Team selection camp held August 7-14 in Calgary, Alberta. Hewett participated in Canada's Strength and Conditioning Camp in May and based on her performance there she will continue to compete for one of the final spots on the U22 squad.
She is one of 14 defensemen to take part in the camp and has been assigned to Team Red. The 42 players participating in the National Women's U22 Team selection camp are divided into two teams that will compete against each other as well as Sweden's national women's team in a series of games this August.
Hewett's consistency at the blueline for the Huskies earned her the team's Most Valuable Rookie Award. She finished the season with 14 points from a pair of goals and 12 assists, concluding her first season with a plus-eight rating.
