Anderson to Join Women's Ice Hockey Coaching Staff

STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut women's ice hockey head coach Heather Linstad announced the addition of Kirsti Anderson to this season's coaching staff. Anderson spent the last two season as an assistant with the Hamilton College women's ice hockey program.
While a part of the Hamilton coaching staff, Anderson was responsible for game and practice preparation. She routinely assisted with on-ice practices, working closely with the defensive unit of the Continentals. In addition to her on-ice responsibilities, Anderson contributed to the program's alumnae communication efforts, recruiting and travel planning.
During her tenure, defenseman Kate Marek earned a spot on the all-conference first team after leading all defensemen in the scoring in the conference. She was one of two players at Hamilton selected to the NESCAC First-Team at the conclusion of last season.
Anderson attended the NCAA Women Coaches Academy in Denver in 2008 after a brief stint with the Union College women's ice hockey team as a volunteer assistant.
Her collegiate playing experience started at Division III Bowdoin where Anderson was a First-Team All-American on the Final Four squad. She was acknowledged as the NESCAC's Rookie of the Year and Bowdoin College's Freshman Female Athlete of the Year. She earned a spot on the all-conference first team as rookie. As a sophomore she helped Bowdoin to a third place finish in the NCAA Tournament will co-leading the Division III in defensemen scoring.
From 2003-05, Anderson was a part of two NCAA Final Four teams at Dartmouth and was instrumental in the Big Green's Ivy League Championship and ECAC Semifinal finish in 2003-04.
She was invited to the U.S. 18s and 19s Junior National Camp in 2001 and 2002 before she Anderson twice a part of the U.S. Women's National Team Festival in 2002-03. She was also invited to the 2003 National Team Tryouts in 2002.
Anderson graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences from Dartmouth in 2005. Following her graduation, she played defense for the Ottawa Raiders and Oakville Ice of the National Women's Hockey League in Canada before pursuing her coaching career.
Most recently, Anderson spent her time as intern coach with the USA Girls' Select 16 Player Development Camp in St. Cloud, Minn.
